Kraft envelope source?

Do any of you know a good source for the old-style, heavy kraft envelopes that are NOT sulfur free or archive quality? I want to run a toning experiment on some silver Eagles. Thanks.

The heavy 28# (grey) envelopes that Rod Burress sells will tone silver over time. Within 3-4 years some silver GMM pieces which I have are turning a light rose violet at the rims and starting to extend inwards. They are kept in a cotten pouch and then slipped inside the envelope. General room temp. storage with no dessicant.

  • Try Office Max or Staples....... The envelopes I've seen there are the old style brown paper, but the smallest size I've seen is 2 x 3. They're called "coin envelopes"
    Cam-Slam 2-6-04

    4 "YOU SUCKS"
Numerous POTD (But NONE officially recognized)

Thanks, that was one option I considered, but I was looking for a 2"x2" size. But it looks like the coin enelopes may be the simplest solution.

  • Hey Lane,

A few years ago I purchased a lot of those old style Kraft 2x2 envelopes from JP's Corner. They had a bunch of the old ones with heavy sulfer content and the newer ones with less or no sulfer. Eventually they ran out of the old style and I haven't seen any since. I purchased a thousand or so of the older ones before they disappeared. I do believe I have a few left w/o coins in them. Most of them, at least a thousand or so, ended up with the first 5 state quarters in them. Don't know how many you are looking for but PM me with your address and I'll send you what I can spare.

    Rick

  • What about the envelopes proof and mint sets used to come in? Older being better??
