Are there any books with pictures of the different French Patterns and Essais that were minted?

You know like the U.S. Coin Patterns by J. Hewitt Judd. There is bound to be a reference out there that has lots of pics of them. If I can't afford them I would at least be able to look at pics of them and maybe choose some I would eventually like to purchase when I have the means to.

I don't recall exactly. I think it's "Les Monnaies Francaises" but I may be wrong. Find a used book site and search for author Gadoury and keyword coins I'm sure something will come up.

There are quite a few Gadoury books - and yes some of the essais can be found in Monnaies Francaises 1789-2003. But he does have specialized editions as well. If you can't find what you want used - then go here - Gadoury

You can also find many of the essai & pierfort issues in Krause.

Another good book for French patterns is Mazard.
