I'm nosey

Can't sleep cos I want to open up all my presents.....
I'm just curious.....what do you guys spend annually
on grading? I was going over my figures, and it looks
like 7K for me this year.....yikes! PSA got most of it; then GAI
at the beginning of the year, and some to SGC.

That's impressive! I assume you are selling on ebay?
If I spent that much on grading alone, my wife would shoot me! I'm curious to how much I spent last year period. I know it is more than my wife would be happy about. She's a good sport to a point.
    You have a Merry Christmas!

  • I'm glad I have an understanding wife who lets me blow my dough
on this stuff. Mike, I only sell my doubles and anything that comes back less than a 10. I'm a collector/buyer first. Okay, I better go to bed now. I hear Santa on my roof. Merry Christmas to all!

When I get my bank statement, I usually cringe when I see all those Paypal debits because they are all cards. I can't bear to total it up, but if I'd cut my hobby in half I'd be able to pay off my house a lot sooner.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
  • 7K is alot of cash on just grading...i figure after i get my last one out this month ill only be in for about $1000 to psa. my bank statments have dozens of paypal on them too. it would be intresting to total up the whole years spendings though.

I just joined PSA in early November. My total INCLUDING the shipping PSA charges is at $286.95. I can see myself hitting 1,000 next year, only if I find the kind of raw/un-opened I am looking for. Anything over that 1,000 might not be healthy for my love life image

    Ya know guys
I'm just plain lazy...I have had a stack of star cards and 1960 and 59T baseball commons laying in a pile to send out for 9 months! Also, have 15 items to send to PSA/DNA! Maybe I can get my wife to help.LOL

I hope everyone is having a great day...I'm sitting here with a cold Bud and fried shrimp for lunch!
    Cheers!

I paid to have one card graded this year and included it in a shipment with another person's submission. I almost entirely buy the already graded product.

I know your way is much more cost effective, but it is SO MUCH FUN to submit and have your own grading eye tested. Maybe this will wear off when the newness of it all goes away.

Outside of my PSA membership gradings, (which I'm thinking about letting lapse), I've spent a whopping $25 for one card on-site (next day pickup).

Hi Everyone, and Merry Christmas to all.

I added about 200 cards to my graded collection this year, but all were purchased already graded. I do plan to join in 2005 and at least submit the 7 "free" ones.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and the upcoming bowl games.

$7K for grading. That's more than 1000 cards? That's a lot of cards!!!

I wonder how much DSL and 4sharpcorners spend in a year.

    Hi Koby
You may want to redo the math?

Yup. I meant 1000 submissions....assuming they weren't all sent under a special, that would make it $7 average per submittal. Thanks

For spending 7k Orlando ought to take you out to lunch every once in a while.
  • For spending 7k Orlando ought to take you out to lunch every once in a while.

I don't like fish tacos though.

I thought for sure there would be some that spent way more than
I did on here. I had over 8 bulk submissions with PSA with orders between 100 - 200 cards. The last one was the Nov. special which had 205 cards. You figured at the bulk rate of $6 per card.

I also did a semi large one with SGC for reg. submission and I also did 3 cross-over subs with them.

I spent about 1k with GAI at the beginning of the year, but haven't used them since. All this is just on grading fees alone; not from buying graded cards or raw material. That's a whole new area. I think I need help. Cards anonymous?

  • 7k? Wow, I thought I was one of the bigger non-fulltime-dealer submitters but I go about 2k to 4k a year, mostly on vintage commons. I love prewar commons in mid grade. anyobdy have any raw goudey, playball or "T" cards they want to move? image
