Large Cent Specialist - Question for you

I recently picked up an 1848 large cent which has a very clear repunched date... particularly noticable on the 1. Can't find any listing of this repunch. Can you specialist help me out? Are you aware of such a variety? I can email pics if you would like.

hi there pat i am not a large cent specialist and really do not know much about them

but i do know that 1848 large cents have literiatlly many of repunched date varities mostly the one in the date and i have seen the numerial one repunched many times all different directions on all 1848 large cents i have seen the last 40 years or so and this was also for all the numerials in the date

i would hazard to guess that a non repunched date 1848 would be a rather scarce unusual coin!!!!!!!

and again the above has just been my experience with 1848 cents and even at the junior club meetings i attend once in awhile a junior will come with a coin they have that has an odd date and ask for answers and it has always been a circ 1848 large cent with a repunched date especially so the one in the date
