Grade opinions on this 1920 SLQ..

Just picked this up and it wll be going to PCGS shortly. I really never graded the series so i was wondering if anyone has any opinions on the grade. The pics are the sellers. (There's a return policy and the seller has great feedback.)
Thanks
Tom

Sorry to say but I would worry about body bag for cleaning. Look at the reverse left of the eagle and near AMERICA. Full of lines/scratches. Take a look when it arrives and see what you think.

  • Definitely no higher than MS63, luster looks a bit flat, maybe 62. Decent head but won't get a FH designation. Also a decent strike, you can tell that from the hem on her garment across the thigh, but 1920-P and 1918-P are easily the strongest struck of the raised date Type 2's. The scrape under the stars under "IN GOD" and the tick above the shield hold it back from any higher grade.

Certainly looks UNC, but I'd prefer to have it in hand to judge if it's ever been cleaned.

Regardless of whether or not the coin's been cleaned, its a decently struck coin and would be better off in a raw album. Without a personal inspection its too hard to tell about the reverse cleaning mentioned.

David, I think you're being too generous, I'd give it a MS 62, because of the marks you described.

Don't get me wrong, Trooper, I like the coin, but as "Itsnotjustme" said, closely examine the coin when you get it. Recently, I've had to return a coin to a dealer I know and trust who said that the 1904-O half I bought was never messed with and would holder at PCGS as a AU 58... ( they'd end up body-bagging it due to excessive hairlines ) . Regrettably, I had to send it back. Hopefully, you'll have better luck.

attractive coin, but a few technical "squinks" at the thigh, between the stars, and on the reverse are going to mean MS61 at best and could cause a body bag.
