To me thats not a very nice comment. When it was PM to me I took offence and responed negitively. Then I got another PM which said that and other short statements were used on this form when someone like the other person.
Did I make a mistake responding the way I did?

from someone who does know me, from dealing outside the board. It was posted as a PM after they responded to a thread I posted .

"You Suck" is also a term of endearment on this forum. Properly used it denotes both jealousy and perhaps a wee bit of admiration for a fellow member's latest score.
Bite me!
<< <i>I was under the impression that "Bite Me" was the proper response to a "You Suck!".

Depends on the context, but Bite Me, as generally used on this forum, is not a term of endearment.
It means "Bite Me!!"
