  • I kinda hope there is not one as a seller, I remember last year that card dealer that dumped and spammed the searches with about 25000 listings. It buries all your listings in that crap and your sales go down.

Every Ebay seller I talk to talks about the 2 weeks following Christmas being the slowest time of the year, ironically that coincides with the FLD listings. Makes you wonder.

You are right about being buried in crap. If there is a free listing day, I will make sure not to list anything then - unfortunately, too many large volume Ebay junk dealers clog the site with garbage, causing your items to be buried under the avalanche.

As an Ozzie Guillen collector I love free listing day! It is a chance for dealers to clear out alot of the lower value cards.

  • I've been scanning like crazy with the hopes they would be having one.Lots of cards that have some value but not enough to warrant the usual listing fees.
  • I always like it when its free listing day in Great Britain and that same dealer lists all of his cards in English pounds.
  • Anytime I can save is fine. Scanning and uploading everything on my turbo lister
    just in case.
  • i've been taking pics all week, and will spend the next couple of days doing listings to upload. looking at several 100 lots right now. Signed cards, signed baseballs, political items and some of those Bonds' I got a couple of weeks ago.

I've been uploading also. It has happened every year. I only sell the lower end stuff that would not make me money unless in a lot of cards. So I split up sets and sell the commons for those filling sets on free listing days. works well
  • i agree, i have been trying to sell my signed card collection for a year or so now in-tact, no "good" offers...so am breaking it up and piecing it out. Would never PAY to do it, so FLD is perfect. kinda like spring cleaning. image
  • I just cannot see spending hours setting up listings for items that will probaly not even sell, not to mention the time you waste in packing cards that sold for next to nothing.. I will probaly list just as normal 10 to 20 listings a night.

Well you could say that about any auction someone lists. It's a business for me.If I owned a brick and mortar I wouldn't wake up one morning and say "well I don't think I will have any sales today so I'm not going to open the store"

<< <i>not to mention the time you waste in packing cards that sold for next to nothing >>

There again a sale is a sale. There are a lot of cards I list all year long that only sell in the $2.00 to $5.00 price range. If I took your attitude I would never list on Ebay. Not everybody can list cards that are always going to close for big $$.You have to take the $5.00 sales with the $500.00 ones!
  • Its a business for me as well, but I do have other outlets. Lately have been making more money buying off Ebay and selling locally.

95% of my sales are also from between 3 to 10 dollars, and I agree a sale is a sale. Why is it many sellers out there say that sales go to nothing the 2 weeks following Christmas?? I firmly believe it is due to the sheer volume of pure junk that is listed on a FLD. The site moves at a snails pace, I have always had trouble listing on FLDs even with a cable connection due to the slow pace of the site.

Then again alot of people say not to end on Christmas. Christmas 2003 was one of my best days last year. I was refering to the waste on items that will sell for less than 1.00 like so many sellers do on FLDs.

  • Well I do a lot of rip and sell so I get a build up of cards that need to be moved. The FLD is the perfect time to try and get rid of some of this stuff.I might not sell at .99 cents but I would rather find that out and not have to pay for it.
  • Hello,
I see a lot of people that say that it is tough to sell during free listing day. Is this still true if you feature your item and have a higher starting price so that your auction is not buried???
STOP MAKING THE GAME-USED CRAP CARDS!!!!
  • Feature auctions are not free, you get the basic listing free, but any add ons are charged as normal

  • On free listing day, aren't your listing fees free, but you can pay to feature an item???
STOP MAKING THE GAME-USED CRAP CARDS!!!!
  • Nevermind, you already answered my question.
STOP MAKING THE GAME-USED CRAP CARDS!!!!
  • free listings... all other features and final selling fees all still apply. so you save $0.30 a listing on the front end.
