Louisville Slugger Hanging Cards

I recently submitted two Eric Davis Louisville Slugger cards to PSA. They both had the hole punch still intact, and both graded 9. I have others I would like to submit, but they do not have the hole punch attached. Do you think PSA will take this into consideration? The cards were "issued" to the public with hole punches removed. Does this matter? If I remember correctly, PSA degrades ice cream lids that the tabs have been bent, although this is the way they were issued. How about 1979 gum wrappers? I have some from the factory with no folds. I wonder if PSA, in both of these situations, should label these cards as being factory prototypes, or something.

PSA is like a mystery, depending on what you submit. I think it depends a lot on the knowledge of the grader who is doing the grading. I'm not convinced that every grader is informed about particulars of certain issues, such as your cards which were issued punched out. I would not be suprised to see them deduct for that. I do know however, that they will not grade proof-type cards, and I doubt they would they grade those uncreased wrappers you mentioned because they would likely treat unfolded wrappers as they would a sheet-cut card... it was issued as machine cut and folded.

I think PSA will deduct quite a few grades for the missing hole punch. Perhaps almost as much as if it were a pinhole.

PSA definitely grades things that "came out the back door" so to speak. For instance, they grade Milk Duds boxes that never held milk duds, Bazooka panels that never held bazookas, unfolded 1973 Topps Comics and 1973 Topps Pin-ups, unfolded Topps tattoos, and 1970 Candy Lids with unbent tabs. All of these were also issued to the general public so they can't be called proofs, but the "proof" or unused versions still get graded (without differentiation).

I have a bunch of LS cards as well as Franklin cards, and, interestingly, the only ones I have with unpunched holes are a couple of Davis cards. I also have a couple punched and they look just as nice. If a knowledgeable grader gets these cards, I wouldn't expect a downgrade for the hole being punched, as that is the way the cards were issued, but it probably would get knocked down a couple of grades.
