Can anyone give me or direct me to some info on the 'Discovery of America 500th Anniversary CoinCollection". The inside of the case reads "The British Virgin Islands, The DISCOVERY OF AMERICA, 500TH Anniversary Coin Collection, SOLID STERLING SILVER, LIMITED EDITION, I own 2 sets and have found close to no info. thanxs mc I forgot to mention its a 25 coin set and all coins have a $25 value marked on them. Strangely enough, all coins have Queen Elizabeth 2nd on one side and, and different scene's of Christopher Cololumbus sailing and landing in the new world(the queen and dollars?) HOPE THIS HELPS

Keep in mind that these coins are redeemable at par to the US dollar. So far as I know they don't
really circulate but they are actually redeemable. It's easy to get 80% of face on them in this country.

Did you check the link I provided?

Your set is an official issue of the British Virgin Islands. Although they mint their own coins, U.S. currency is still the medium of exchange on the islands. Each of your coins could be spent for $25 face value on the islands.
Your coins are in Krause as "The Discovery of America" series (Columbus discovered the islands), and are KM #104 through KM #131. The 2003 catalog lists them at $32 each in terms of value. Each coin contains .6406 oz. of .9250 silver. I have owned this set in the past. We sold it for $375, but it was a couple of years ago. The price of the eBay auction lot ($450) is not terrible, but believe me that you will have a heck of a time selling the set for that amount.......unless you relist it on eBay. Hope you enjoy your set.

.............furthermore, the entire set was minted in 1992, though not dated. I believe that the Franklin Mint strikes all coinage for the British Virgin Islands, although that is not listed in Krause for some reason.

So does this mean that they have 0.592555 ounces of silver in them? Wah! They never told me there'd be math!
As I understand it, you may deposit the money into a BVI account, and you may get credit for it in about six months.
I believe this to be accurate.
I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.
