PCGS price question concerning AU coins! Help please!

When the price guide lists the price for AU, do they mean AU50, 53, 55, or 58 . Thanks!

I always assume it to be AU50
  • Don't look at pcgs pricing- it's inflated by at least 15% and usually it's at au50.

I have always assumed that AU in any price guide, would be AU-50. When one finds a coin graded AU-58 for sale, the price usually reflects that, being close to the price of MS. image

Yep. While "typical" trends values would value a 58 close to, but just less than, MS-60, true AU-58 coins (solid for the grade and not overgraded 53s and 55s) generally will be valued at just about MS-60 money, and the particularly nice ones can fetch MS-62 prices and sometimes even more.

Obviously there are exceptions when the AU/BU spread is huge, but usually, this holds pretty well.
