Would You Trade Your "Box of Twenty" Sight UNseen With Someone Else?

braddickbraddick Posts: 23,965 ✭✭✭✭✭
Say each of us had to build a Box of Twenty out of our best and favorite coins. Now, without any of us knowing why, or what the outcome could be, you're then given the opportunity to trade your Box of Twenty with another randomly drawn Member of the Forum.

You might end up with ANACONDA's box! ...or, heaven forbid, mine.

Would you go for it?

No, if they were my 20 favorite, then I wouldn't want/need anyone elses. Besides, what would I do with 20 PO01 coins?

True, true. But you could end up with a Box of Twenty that feature coins like this!

Remember, you have built your Box of Twenty without knowing in advance what the game is. I know Cameron and Marty have better coins than Weenies and Samples!

I wouldn't do it under any circumstances, but IF everyone who posts regularly to the forum were somehow compelled to participate then my expected payout might not be *too* bad. But if it were voluntary, no one with a lot to lose would participate and most people with very little to lose *would*. So anyone who had better than what most participants had...is hosed.
  • I would be at a "go" for it. Albeit my coins aren't on the upper end of the collectability scale, they are modest coins that I could afford with 2 kids, wife and a california mortgage.

Besides, I would love to get one from Marty......I love error coins!!!!!!

Just for fun, I just wrote a list of the twenty. I'd hate to give these up, especially if someone gave me ten Ikes or something like that. image

I would never trade something of value for "what's behind door number..."

Since it's safe to assume that there are a couple people on the boards that already have the top of the line coins, they would have no where to go but down in such an exchange.

Therefore, they probably won't participate, so the participation will come from those in the middle and possibly lower end of the spectra. It then becomes risky if you have higher - mid grade coins.

So as this points out, there may not be all that many really high end collections in the trade.

    Too risky for me.

Plus, if I created my box of twenty, and it is what I really wanted in the first place, why do I want to trade it for?
