The Dennis Dewart collection was taken off about a week ago. Haletj also commented in a previous post that a couple more collections were being sold off. Not sure which ones, though.
I've been moving down so long while occasionally adding or upgrading a coin I don't even pay attention anymore. I can't run with the dogs. Dang I am almost in the 40's again with what would have been a top 20 set 2-3 years ago.
There are so many collections being added to the Lincolns that I have to believe the demand for the coins will continue to grow. I remember when I first added my set....and I didn't even have all Red coins at that time...that I was as high as #5. Then I spent about $40k upgrading my set......and sold it when I was at #8 or #9 last June. Now it is only the #15 highest all time. To get into the top 10 and starting from scratch today....is going to cost someone over/near $200k after a few more sets are completed.
Gosh, I'm at #69 in the basic set and dropping slowly all the time. Why? Because I have not slabbed most of the coins because, IMHO they are not worth the slabbing fee. Doesn't bother me because I KNOW I have the complete set. With what I see others saying it would cost to get into the top ten it is nice to know that my entire collection of Lincoln cents including all the proofs and all the grading by PCGS has cost me only 10% of that amount. Have fun with your coins! Steve
I gotta agree with Marc and Jack. $200,000 might be conservative to get into the top 10 of Lincoln Basic Registry these days. However, that said, it would be about $240,000 or even less would get one into the top 6 in the Lincolns w/Varieties. Just check out the composition of that category to verify. Of course, the stoppers will be the 1922 No D in Rd or even RB, the 1917 DDO and the 1926-S in Rd. I believe the pop report shows about 63 of the 1926-S in red, but I believe the true number is not much over 40 due to MANY crackouts and resubmissions, always hoping to reach Nirvana, a MS-65 Rd! I personally know of at least 8 crackouts of 64s in a fruitless attempt to achieve that one point upgrade. Threre's a real nice one in the Michaels set that looks close, but I don't think it would get a 65 either.

I will never understand why whoever cracks these out doesn't send in the old cert #s. If they care about the value of their 64RD 26S, then why on Earth would they devalue that very coin by keeping the cert and raising the pop? Just maddening!
Thanks Ira for the interesting info. Not only might there be just over 40 64rd 26-s's, but most of those are coins that aren't nearly as nice as avg 64rd's of other dates. The Michael's one might be the best one I've seen a picture of. It would be so cool to see a picture of Stewart's or Gerry's!
I think people don't turn in their cert #'s just due to laziness. They're very easy to throw away with the rest of the cracked plastic. I don't think it hurts the value of the coins though. The values obviously don't go by pops much. Anyone notice that (besides 26-s) for a long time 19-s and 21-s were the most expensive S coins in 64rd? Yet have the highest pops? It's because they're actually available for dealers to have in their inventory and push up the price.

Jaime,
Yes, a couple of good starts in S&L and Apache. It's encouraging to see, with all the recent sell-offs.
What happened to the Walsh collection? Looks likes some coins may have been sold off or something. That set was at #3 or 4 I think.

Marcalan84,
Yes, it's getting crazier by the day. 200K would be a conservative number for a top 10 set.
