Well KISS MY GRITS !

On Sunday, I saw this dime on Ebay..... 1805 RAW DIME

I emailed the seller the following:

Dear coinsfrombill,

Do you have a return policy? I am interested in this dime, but need to see it "up close and personal" before I could drop $850

Today I get this reply:

If "up, close and personal" means an inspection, you are welcome to do this after you purchase it. The return policy is stated on my ebay website. I am registered with Ebay and they have done extensive business with me. Also I am NOT going to South America on $850. I have sent many coins valued at many thousands of dollars since I started collecting in 1944.

Sincerely,
Bill Carla

Well Excuse me !!!!

First off I don't see ANYTHING about a return policy........

Second, I wonder what kind of business he has done with Ebay besides paying for his listings/sales...........

I NEVER said anything about him absconding with the money.............

Why the he!! should I care how many coins he's shipped in the last 60 years........ He's only got a 22 feedback........

To Bill Carla....... an open invitation............ KISS MY GRITS !!!!!!!!!

  • so he has been collecting for 60 years which tells me he is getting up in his years. We all know how some people who are around that age live life a little differently than younger people do so I always chalk it up to different generations and thoughts. Also, he is probably not the most computer savvy person considering his age. he seems a little old fashioned.

  • Hmm, low feedback. Last feedback listed is in 2002... $850 item... = be careful. Dime looks good to me,... solid VF I think from the pics. If so, and if it's not scrubbed... could be a good buy. But I wouldn't unless I could minimize the risk. image

With a coin like that, I think you're much better off finding one at a show or quality coin shop!

Well, here's one, but it wouldn't go VF25 even at the most liberal TPG.

It takes all kinds to make a world, but I'm kinda sympathetic towards the old fart who wants payment as collateral instead of risking a free approval gone bad. I know Longtimecollector wouldn't take his coin, even if he IS Certifiable, but the old fart don't know that.

Raw coin, no return policy, 20 total feedbacks, and no paypal. I wouldn't go near this one.

  • Something doesn't smell right here.
The last feedback he received was on Dec 20, 2002
Now out of nowhere he list 59 high dollar items.
No PayPal + no return policy + bad attitude = RUN LIKE HELL!!
  • Just an FYI- I spoke to one of his past buyers- who I have bought from- the guy is legit- yes he is very old, but has a hellofa collection, unfortunately he has a 1800 that he wants 4300 and it has a scratch running left obverse and onto the cardboard holder- I left him a note I'll give him 25 dollars for it right now, the scratch looks real fresh.
  • He also has a return policy but it's not posted:

The return policy is: 3 days after receipt of coin for any reason for full coin price refund, postage prepaid.

I emailed and asked him a couple of days ago and he just responded today.
