Cool junk

I bought a sea-salvaed Philippines 1920 Wilson medal.

Why buy such a "piece of junk"?

It has an interesting story behind it. When the Japanese were about to invade Manila in 1942, about 16 million silver pesos and other coins were crated and dumped into the sea near Corregidor so the Japanese troops couldn't seize them. Among the coins were some 1936 commemorative sets and Wilson medals that remained in vaults.

Do you have any interesting "junk" you'd like to tell us about?
