What does this mean? Taking them off the market? Dec. 23 last day for L&C Silver $ Sales

front page of US Mint website says:

"last day of Lewis & Clark Bicentennial silver dollars is Dec. 23."

Not that it matters much to me - just curious ........... but does this mean they are going to quit selling them, and then bring them back 'later' like they seem to be doing with other items? Have they done this before?

I believe the authorizing legislation included a line stating that they could not be sold by the mint after Dec 31st 2004. So if they are closing down the sales after Thursday, I doubt if you will see them put back up for sale.
