alot of people also dislike the NBA and choose not to collect basketball cards.. BUT, am i correct in assuming that alot of todays kids collect basketball? If so, that could mean a bright future for basketball cards..
I only collect basketball cards of certain veteran players..
Gwynn, Boggs, Clemens, Bonds, LeBron, etc etc all from the era of huge print runs and lots of ways for collectors/speculators to keep them all in pristine condition.

In ten years, Lebron may have gone the way of Kobe Bryant, but he also may have gone the way of Jayson Williams. It's way too early to tell.
In ten years, Bonds will be in the Hall of Fame, and is likely to be the all-time HR leader. In twenty years, many people will have forgotten how dislikeable he was, but his records will still be in the books - steroids or not.

A lot of people hated Ted Williams during his playing days, but that doesn't seem to have hurt his card prices today. Feats and stats matter a lot more than whether you're a nice guy or not.
