A couple of questions... I saw this on an internet sale. Does it look like an early die state of the VAM-1A (Donkey Tail). I can see a chunk off the bottom right of the D in DOLLAR, and the letters line up with the denticle positioning in the Top 100 book. It's in an old PCI slab marked MS-65. The seller wants $90.
Does it look like an EDS VAM-1A? I know the LDS is worth more, are the early die states of a rare VAM worth anything? $90?

$90 asking price and the MS65 slab mean even the seller doesn't think it's really a 65.

If anyone would know....
I passed on it. It was out of my price range and I hope I found something a little less risky.
This looked like a 1921-D VAM-1AT... with a die break at the lower left of the O in ONE. The only pictures are through cellophane, but for $17 in AU I'll take another chance.
Any opinions? I only have a close-up image of the "O" for a real VAM-1AT. Does anyone have a real one? Do the die cracks look the same on the rest of the coin?
Yes, there are now two known. You've enhanced the image considerably. Rob & I were discussing the other day how late a die state the coin was.
Just to warn you, I've got a hellacious snipe {on } that coin!
Edited to add the word: ON

Two known? Are you kidding? I just bought this one today. I hope to get it by next week.
What do you mean by enhanced the image? Do I think I'm looking too hard??? This was the only thing the seller had posted. I just saved to file and split the picture in two to get under the 50K size limit.

<< <i>If you've just bought it..looks like a winner. The other is a coin I'm following on eBay with a snipe (SHHHH). Sorry for the confusion, but they looked remarkably familiar. >>
This wasn't on eBay. I'm glad you think it looks real. So the number goes from two to four?
Good luck with yours.
