1. What is your oldest coin?
2. What is your most expansive coin?
I can add:
3. What is your favorite coin?
What are other questions they might ask?

I have an old coin. How much do you think it's worth?
Why isn't your oldest coin worth more than all the others?
Why isn't that coin (the one worn flat) worth more.
How much is my steel cent worth.
I have a copper 1943 cent (always plated). It's worth $100,000 isn't it?
Me: Oh, about $500
Friend: Wow, I've got some old coins. Ya wanna buy them?
Mike
Not really a question but what the look on their faces say when shown something cool.

looking Ike at home is it really worth $2,000? What's this? Will you look at my
coins for me?"
I always like that last question the most.
I got some coins from my Grandfather, wanna look at them?
"Why would you pay that much, if it's only a $5 bill?"
"I have some silver certificates, are they worth alot?"
From my step-daughter regarding my indian dollar tribe: "You better take care, we wern't born rich you know." Referring to the fact that they aren't going to be able to take care of us in our old age...hee hee. If only she knew that they will all be comfortable when we go.
At this point, I put all my coins in a safe that nobody knows about.

Sounds familar. . .I've been in that nearly unescapable trap a few times. The most memorable one was when my boss asked me that and I wanted to impress him. I have some coins, could you tell me what they're worth? I had to do a lot of fancy side-stepping to get out of that one!

Only if you manage to get them out of your name at least three years before they stick you in a nursing home. Forty to fifty grand or more a year for nursing homes realy eats into the inheritance. Especially when you stick around for 8 to 10 more years.

<< <i>"I had to borrow a few dimes to use the vending machine at work. Here's your money back." (You look in your collection to see some old 1946 Roosies and some high grade proofs missing, and in replacement you get a bunch of circulated 'modern crap').

"Why 1 to 70 and not 1 to 100?"
(After getting the historical Sheldon 'equates to value' answer: "So what is one point worth?"
"VG-10....That's pretty low. It looks pretty nice to me. What's wrong with it?" (Asked about a Bust Dollar)
"This AU-50.....How mich nicer does it have to be to get to be AU-51?"
(Followed by), "What do you mean you don't use all the numbers? Now you don't even need the 70 numbers!"
At this point I gave up....They were having too much fun harassing me, (and they do enjoy harassing me). I'll show them coins, but I don't discuss grades anymore.
...they just dont understand.

"I never knew you were one of those kind of "people. Don't you have a life?"
"You say the coins are worth all this money, but how come you never sell any?!!"
2. Is that a foreign coin?
3. What are you buying now?
4. Where do you live?
5. How much are my coins worth? (usually common circulated stuff).
