It`s called coin abuse, almost 50% of all coins minted are abused at some point in there lives. there are shelters for these poor coins, but they are few. something has to be done to stop this madness....

It could have been 'crushed' in a gear or mechanical wheel or some sort at an angle. That's what it looks like.

Looks to me like it was intentionally done by someone with more time...than sense. I doubt they are the result of an accident. Probably intentionally scratched in that pattern for, who knows, what reason.

its a test piece for whatever cutting device was used for that now-work of art.
the scratches maybe about as old as the coin so,who knows. someone was bored
probably and was just killing time.
