Four More To Completion

Fellas -

I'm only four PSA 9 1970 Kelloggs Baseball cards away from having the complete set in straight 9's. Can anyone help me reach the finish line? I can't believe how hard it is to finish off a graded set. Never give up hope!

#16 - Carlos May
#21 - Brooks Robinson
#27 - Roberto Clemente
#40 - Ernie Banks

Thanks

Dave

The three hall of famers you will find easily if patient on e-bay. The Carlos May card is very tough as it is from series 2 (these came out in two seperate series) and you will need to write all the guys in set registry and ask them for a connection. Start with Zardos51 who I got mine from about two years ago***

    http://www.psacard.com/set_registry/display_rsets.chtml?setid=112&set_name=1970 Kelloggs

mine is #10, #5 is larry's who is very helpful and king of disc cards and #7 is Anthony Nex's who also looked forever for the Carlos May card!

    happy hunting!

I hear what you're saying when it comes to locating Carlos May in a 9. I've been looking for a long time with no success. I have a raw Banks & Clemente, but am debating whether to submit them or just buy already graded. If they come back 8's its a total waste (from my set completion goal standpoint and re-selling purposes).

Are there any tricks or things to really look out for when deciding whether they'll get 8's or 9's? Let's hear from all the Kellogg's collectors on this issue.

    Thanks

I actually didn't have a hard time with Carlos May- it came from a submission. The one that killed me was Tim Cullen, and as BcD said, Paul (Zardoz) helped me out on that one.
As far as the difference between an 8 and 9, I"d look closely at the surface of the card, and pay particular attention to the paper on the back- it will show wear before the front. Beyond that it's all luck- an 8 is a 9 one day, the opposite another. Just depends on who grades your submission. There is little point in resubmitting since the grading fees are usually worth more than the card, so keep your eyes on ebay.
