Yes, it is a defaced Elizabeth II halfpenny. I received it "gratis" from a coin dealer at a show many years ago. It just popped up in an old box of my stuff I was going through.
From a technical standpoint, whoever did the cutting did a pretty nice job.

I missed this, oh well. Pity cos i have a friend on another forum who has a thing about ships and he's purposely trying to collect halfpennies because of them.
