1962-D Washington With An Extra "D" On The Obverse

Got this one in the mail today and thought I'd share it with you. Unfortunately I couldn't quite get my pictures to bring out the extra "D" so I borrowed the middle pic from the Heritage site. In the auction description it was stated that: "This coin was sent to die variety specialist Ken Potter for examination, and Mr. Potter concluded that is probably a 'contaminated die design transfer' mint error. A ghostly D mintmark is seen northeast of the 2 in the date." Another Washington expert told me: "I'm sure Ken is correct, but he has given a very technical answer for dropped letter."
Anyway, I thought it was kind of cool and wanted to share it with you. Hopefully I can adjust my lighting and get some better pictures of my own when I have a little more time and patience. As a few of you know I collect colorful Washington Quarters but I just couldn't pass this one up.
Thanks to Dave (dldallen on the boards) for consigning it to Heritage. When he first pointed it out to me I wasn't too thrilled but I found myself going back and looking at the auction on the Heritage site daily. Eventually I placed a bid near the close and was thrilled to win it!
