How does PSA handle 1, 2, or 3 fisheyes ?

You know those little circles on the front of the vintage cards.

Did you ever send in cards with 1, 2, or 3 of
those fisheyes, or little circles ?

If so, how did PSA handle the grades ?

I'd especially be interested in cards that had
three fisheyes on them.

thanks

They seem to have no impact on grading. I've seen plenty of 9s and 10s with half a dozen or more.

I am not sure what you mean. Sometimes the paper stock has all kinds of strange materials and leaves dark spots.

    Give us a scan.

Here's a sample PSA 9. If you look in the black around the 'S' in Twins, there are two fisheyes, where a bubble was formed when the ink was pressed onto the card. The bubbles burst, leaving behind a part of the card where the ink didn't hit. This is pretty common, and I don't think PSA takes off for it at all. Actually, the whole right side of the red part of the border is pretty faded compared to the left side. It's all out of register with the yellow, too. On the whole, a sub-standard print job on this card. A couple touches on the left edge, I'm surprised it was graded a 9.

  • Thanks Guys,

Yes, the spots on the Blyleven is exactly what I was talking about.

I got a 1974 opc Yazstremski that has three of these on the front.
It has an outside shot at a nine.
The centering may lower it to an 8.
But the corners are 9 all the way.

It all depends on how bad they are. They can lower the grade, cause the card to get a PD qualifier, or have no effect.

That's a great Blyleven pick. Betcha his mom was real proud of that shot.
