what will this cross over

image

I got this the other day for pretty cheap and wanted to cross it. Any suggestions on cracking or sending it in the case. Thanks for the help guys.

  • Crack it out and submit. It looks pretty nice for a 3, but i've never dealt with beckett either

  • I would be darn careful before cracking open a case, especially a Mantle. If you're not careful, you can damage the card within, thus resulting in an even lower grade. It might be best to just send it in as is, and let PSA worry about cracking it out--they're used to it. Unless there's some small creases not showing up on the scan, it does seem that a '3' is pretty low. Other than the obvious diamond cut, and possible faded image, it looks pretty nice.
  • i like psa and all but the beckett slabs are way better. i dont have a clue how to even begin on cracking this. i planned on sending it as is but wanted some input.

Why did Beckett grade it a 3 is the first thing... from looking at the front only, it appears better than that, but there must have been some justification. Is there staining or paper loss on the back, does it appear that it was ever exposed to water, are there creases that aren't showing up in the scan? If there are creases, it will probably not be any higher than a 3 at PSA.
  • the back is better than the front. there is a very small spider vien in the top right corner. cant see it until under its under a loupe. that is the only thing i can figure that keeps it from a higher grade.

If there is a light crease, I think you may get a PSA 4 which will increase the value some. Overall, that is one nice looking 3!

If you do want PSA to crack it send a note saying you agree PSA isnt responsible if they should damage it.

Just crack it out yourself you image

Use a knife and jimmy around the edges or use a dremel.

ranger - what are the subgrades?

I wouldn't crack this. It's in a BGS, not a BVG holder, so there's a decent chance that it was undergraded because of either Beckett's early unreasonably tough grading on vintage cards or their weird algorithm for grades. I would submit it for crossover (probably with a minimum grade of 3), Don't forget that your time spent in cracking the card has to be worth something.
