This has been in my son's Dansco "type" set for a few years now. I've always wondered if it was "anything". Aside from a few minor old marks on the obverse, it really is a nice looking piece!

nice coin
I don't have my book here but if I remember right that's a # 2 Hair Style.
Please count me in on your generous giveaway.

I actually took this coin and several others a few years back as partial payment when I sold a fairly decent sized collection for a friend that knew NOTHING about the coins. He had inherited them from an uncle. I cleared him 30,050.00 and he gave every cent to his aunt.
My guess F12 type 2

I am no expert but that is what I see from the photo. It is also a hair style Two. The curl of hair above the bottom lowest curl is the diagnostic
Nice coin

I agree with rhedden and thebigeng: S-174. As Tbig noted, it looks like D/S 1, which would be rare. Goose, please bring it to the next show and we can check to be certain. I thought that it was S-175 at first (D/S 1). The reverses are very similar. Either way, it is a very nice early copper. You son has a better type set than I do!!
