Icon reimage and camera comparison (((Image SIze Warning)))

OK I am imaging my Vickies for my WEB site, and I thought I would post this camera comparison and reimage of my Icon (1872 Gothic Florin, NGC MS62)

These photos are from my old camera (Sony Mavica FD83), and prior to slabbing.




Here is the same with my new camera (NIKON 8700) taken through the plastic slab.



Edit; To add I just noticed the reverse is upside down.....

Wow!!! I love that coin

The second set picks up much greater detail and is "crisper" or sharper than the first set.

But, which rendition of the color is most accurate? Both are beautiful in that regard.

Nice shots Glenn, It may not just be the camera. I have found that different software can also effect the final outcome. My new Nikon Coolpix 3200 has a much better program for resizing and twiking the pic, compared to the Adobe program I was using for my scanner.

Lovely coin and an excellent image. I've always thought Gothic Florins can be challenging to grade properly, that one looks to be right on and the toning is a big bonus. Thanks for sharing.
