It's probably hard for TDN to find something he likes/needs so he's probably saved a lot of money by now-----------------------------------------------BigE
Here, I'll help B&M out. They state in the lot description that they're not certain of the provenance... despite their horrible photography I'm 99% certain that's the Vermeule specimen.
Cornelius Vermeule III. He had a wonderful collection sold by Stacks a few years ago. The MS67 1893-S was in the sale, as was my gem 1873-CC trade dollar. The proofs in his collection were spectacularly tissue toned.
There are some neat coins in this sale but I also see a number of retreads that were recently auctioned off unsuccessfully. I see several pieces that are pretty impressive based on the scans (1853 dime MS69*, 1838 25c MS68, 1853 arr 25c MS67, 1833 50c MS68. The 1838 25c MS68 is one of the nicest seated quarters around. And last I knew it sold for well over $200,000 in the 1988-90 market. An incredible no drapery quarter that is basically white and pristine.

No. I've already passed on it twice - why not make it three times a charm?
Pretty tough for fresh stuff to come out of the woodwork with you isnt it?

Yep. Maybe that's why I don't think the default policy to closed Registry sets is that big of a deal.

That is the kind of type set I respect!
Sad to see it getting broken up. Hope the owner is not selling it to any misfortune.
I suspect bidding will be strong on these coins.
