You could get them cheaper at shows, but it would take a lot more time and effort than grabbing the wad all at once. Looks like a deal if you're in a hurry.

  • I went ahead and passed on this one. Maybe if the guy relists this auction, I'll bid. What are the chances that these coins are ms65 and up+?

    Pretty close to zero.

If you are interested in this group, I would suggest contacting the seller. This is exactly what I did to fill the later dates in my Dansco. Did this for both nickels and dimes. You never know what the quality is going to be. If there is one or two that is baddly dinged up, you can easily replace a single coin pretty cheap. Worse case, buy a mint set.

The nickels from mint sets of those years will probably be more like MS63 to MS64 quality with a gem here and there. imo

I agree with this statement... IMHO, why would someone, who looks like they break up mint sets, sell higher graded or full step oins still in their cello?

If you want coins to complete your set, and just want the coins to fill a hole, then, these would work. If you want top dogs, then take your time and look for them one at a time.

On another note... anyone with that high of a rating and still has 100% positive feedback (even with the 3 neg's retracted) must be doing something right. I give him/her credit for that.

    Happy Hunting!

  • Honsetly for $20 why not take the risk? If you pull 1 coin from that group in 66FS and you have easily 10X'd your money. Someone put them in 2x2's for a reason, either they were bad, or they were good.
  • thanks for the replies...

if you read the description carefully, there are a few dates missing in the succession but totals to 41 coins. If one were to make assumptions, perhaps the seller pulled the gems (an 82? an 86?), and this offering represents the leftovers from mint sets dated 68-04. Despite the 100% feedback, where are the pics of all these coins? where is the return policy. Ya, I could take a chance cuz it's only $20, but if it means getting $20 worth of junk, them i'm left with $2.05 of pocket change. I'll continue to piece together my set one at a time with nice gems.

These are the kind of problems/questions that make this hobby fun. Have a complete set of RAW Walker half dollars I went threw the same problem with.
    Happy hunting.
