Who's at or over 75% CASH right now.......

  • Are you talking about the whole market, or just a certain segment?

  • Ex; home and retirement investments? Just coins now vs. 1 year ago? All investments minus house?

  • The total about of monies you have to invest/collect/speculate in the coin market... IE, If you have $ 10,000 to play with.... Who here now only has $ 2500 worth of that $ in coins due to cautious spending in this type of market......
  • All my coin m,oney is invested, so I'm at 100%. Some are long term Hold. A good portion of my My Franklins are going on the market soon for a feeler test run. Franklins are soft right now, mainly due to the volume of mediocre overgraded crap we've seen flood the market. The quality of mine are well above average, and I'm confident that in the long run, they will do just fine...but only with knowledgeable collectors.

I'll buy a nice coin to keep, but the only "investing" I do is buy a pre 1972 proof set and see if it will slab well.

I don't have a certain percentage. I have mty retirement investment accounts, my taxable retirement investment accounts, long-term savings and other endeavors (including coins). I don't consider my coins "investments" though I recognize there's a store of some long-term value there, which makes it easier for me to justify purchases.

Up a 130% in the stock market, but that taint cash. My coins are for my enjoyment, I have not sold any...yet..
  • Interesting thus far........ What do all of you think of the comments on this board as of late............ Is it just talk......

“I hope the market can absorb all of these coins”
“I’ve never seen so many awesome coins come to market”
    “The prices were totally ridiculous”
“I paid 2 times sheet but it was worth it”
“This will be Heritage’s biggest auction ever”
“Do you think there’s too much supply?”
  • You can pick up some bargains now on EBay. There aren't as many buyers combing the auctions during the last half of December, so the chances of finding bargains are increased. I would be 100% invested in coins right now if I had any appreciable amount of cash.

Aren't dealers more apt to discount their merchandise now?

As to the questions; It doesn't make any difference if you are collecting what you want and are within your means!!!!

Umm, yes...that would be me. I have $2.37 in my pocket along with my lucky 50c piece, a paper clip, a receipt from the grocery store, and my car keys.

The $2.37 is all cash, not only 75% cash.

I'm pretty much out of extry cash for coins unless I sell some or win that elusive lottery.

Instead of answering in terms of percentage, I'll put it this way. I sold all my key and semi key Morgans. The rest of my coins, including my early gold type set, I'm hanging on to. After paying some debts and buying a couple of other coins I wanted, I have about $20,000 to play with, and it is not going back into coins. I believe the market, and especially the Morgan market, is set for a big fall. It's only a matter of time.

    interesting.....

I have had 4K burning a hole in my pocket for a while now. I had 8 but spent half on my 16/16 doubled die nick. I HAD to have that coin. I haven't run across another coin since that I have HAD to have so I guess you could say I am being cautious.
