Who and How do they remove threads, one of mine is gone, and I showed a coin in it?

Since the coin showed how I felt. It's been removed and I was wondering
who does that and how come.
Can anyone tell me?

Looks like it was struck through some viscous material - perhaps grease or oil on a massive scale. Could be wrong, I don't know errors all that well.

Interesting coin. Looking at LIBERTY and IGWT you come away thinking strike thru, like C.D. says, on a massive scale. Yet when you look at the right 1/2 of the coin, things change. I come away thinking post mint damage as my first thought. Someone please prove me wrong because this coin is really cool.
