Besides a swift visit from the Vatican's Swiss Guard...

what do you think one of the actual 30 pieces of silver paid to Judas Iscariot would bring? IF the provenance was impeccable.

  • Personally, if it was really a coin attributable to Judas.
I wouldn't even want to look at it.
No telling what kind of bad things would happen.

  • Probably as much as the Spear, or a peice of the "True Cross" would cost image
A tribute penny sells for around $400 on average, but one of the "True" 30 peices of sivler would probably be worth a small kingdom somewhere in the world, "True" Icons have a tendancy to be more than monetarily expensive. You know, small world wars - stuff like that. image

Topstuff, I suppose there's at least one of these exact coins held by the Vatican?

Why would that be the case? Frankly Judas gets a bad rap. The betrayal and crucifiction was planned from the beginning and the Christian faith as it is today could not have come about without Judases betrayal. The betrayal was part of the plan and Judas really didn't have a choice in the matter, he was carrying out God's will. His actions allowed Christ to go on to the greater glory of the redemption of the sins of man. Judas should be revered for what he did.
