Selling On Ebay during Holidays: Good Idea?

Today is Friday, and I was thinking about listing a lot of raw today. Then I realized that they would come up on Christmas Eve night? Santa ain't going to buy them because he's in his sleigh.

So, what's the traffic like at ebay during the holidays?

I'm also planning on listing a laptop with a low starting bid. When's a good time? January?

I'd wait for a month. During the holidays, people aren't online as much, and money is diverted into other things. After the holidays, people have credit card hangover and such, and gym memberships to buy. Stuff will still sell if it's saleable at all, and there are surely people looking to supplement Santa, but there's may be a lot more people interested this time next month.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25

Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
  • I'd wait too, had my auctions end last Sunday, and will probably wait a month from then to relist, hopefully have my next special order back tooo.

A lot of people get cash for the holidays though. 'Yaaa $100 from Grandma' They have time off which can be spent on eBay to buy stuff with their gift money.

  • The only time I have had trouble selling anything during the holidays is December 26th through January 2nd. Ebay usually has a free listing day the day after Christmas in the US and this causes the site to get completely overloaded in worthless junk. I know of one seller who last year loaded 25,000 auctions most of these cards were not worth more than a quarter. Less than 1% of these sold.

Holidays are a bad time for sales. Too much traveling and vacations and too little money.
  • I agree!!!I took a beating this month on sales.Wait at least 3 weeks after the new year.
  • My sales are up because people are not listing. Less people listing creates more compitition for items. I hope you all stay on the sidelines for a while!

Based on this weekend, cards were going for very typical prices despite the holiday.
