does psa/dna give the same guarantee as it does for slabs?

i noticed i've bought a substantial amount of psa/dna items over that past couple of years. but the only thing anyone can seem to agree on is that psa/dna is the best source. but even on these boards there are a bunch of horror stories of items being signed in person to later be rejected. or better yet the questionabilty of whether some of the old time players authenticated can really be done with authority, as there aren't many examples to compare and people's sigs change over the years.

I know if a junk card shows up in a holder, psa will buy it back. Is this the same with faulty auto'd items? It seems like it would be a he said-she said debate. After seeing the amount of money i effectively have sunk into the novel idea of psa/dna i'm kind of worried the bottom could fall out in a hurry. Let's face it, these days 85% of the cost/value of an autographed item is the sticker on the back.....not to mention the reality that you pay multiple times what the auto's worth to begin with for that sticker.
