  • I have a four year old grand-daughter who "insists" that I color between the lines (and I can't use blue because that is HER color). My eldest and her hubby plus three little ones are in Papua New Guinea as missionaries for New Tribes Missions, up in the mountains with people who still worship airplanes and the GOD pilots of WWII. I send the grandkids drawings to color, they like them better than coloring books.

Satootoko - I learned my MC in the USCG. I left Radio School in Petaluma Ca copying all of 22wpm. It took me almost ten years to get to 55wpm. I still have my speed key certificate from District 17 (alaska) and my code test that put me at 55wpm 98% solid. If you want to get your speed up talk to alot of Russians image
Back in the 70's through 95 the USCG used MCW almost exclusively for mariner traffic. I did alot of 12 hr watches where all I did was CW for 8 hours at a time. Like all languages the more you use it the better you get. When I finally move down to Idaho next summer I will be unpacking my Ham Gear and getting back on the air. Perhaps we will get a chance to chat.

Tbirde56 - I'm not a lefty, I'm even worse, I'm an ambi (ambidextrous). I don't have my brothers' photographic memory unfortunately, but then I guess one can't have all the inherited goodies after all. One of the things I found amusing when I was younger was writing in my diary backwards, it was an easy way to "encode" what I wanted to write down privately. Even now as a 911 operator I have a tendancy to write right to left, it drives the other operators nuts and I've got a spiteful streak about a foot wide. image
