Update on the money presentation to the elementary school kids today.

First off I have to tell you, if you have not put one of these on for kids you are really missing out. We have a lot of talented coin folks on this forum who know much more that me about coins. Go to your local school and tell them you want to put on a presentation. They are always looking for experienced people to help teach the kids.

Started the program with a little discussion of what money was and why we use it. Went in to just about everything there was on a penny, including the VDB initials. Some of those kids really have good eyes. Glad I could answer the question. Even my wife was impressed, who there to help me.

We had large bills under microscopes, a brick of fresh shrink wrapped ones from the Fed to hold, gold coins, numerous types of coins, lots of old bills to look at, box of pennys to pick up, quarter dies to hold, error coins, proof sets, etc.

Lots of very good questions from the teachers and the kids. I was having a blast.

After it was all over, each kid left with their new penny I gave them, a small bag of shredded money I get free from the Federal Reserve in Dallas, and their very own brand new Texas quarter.

I would be very surprised if I didn't make at least a few new collectors out of some of them.

Great day to be a banker.

Nice job. It sounds like you enjoyed it as much as they did.
  • Loan Shark,

that was a very nice thing you did for the kids.image I was one of the first recipients of you kind generosity, a roll of nickles, when you first joined the forum.

Your past post on your presentation got me to thinking... What can I do to help in some small way?

Please keep my name handy and the next time you give a presentation or you do something to educate the kids about coins give me a shout, I would like to donate to the cause....I have a PCGS MS69 eagle (silver) with your name on it.

    Keep up the good work,
