Need some prices on these 50's & 60's cards. All Topps. Big pics... sorry dial-uppers.

My friend has these 4 cards and he's wondering about how much he could sell each one for. Me being a modern football collect I have no clue other then ebay, but the prices are so different. I looked at all of them out of the sleeves and couldn't find any noticeable imperfections on the cards fronts and backs. Only thing wrong with any of them is slightly rounded corners and chipping.

1954 Topps #37 Whitey Ford - All the corners are slightly rounded and there's minor chipping on the back.

1960 Topps #200 Willie Mays - Looks to be in Mint condition other then 2 slightly rounded corners. The other 2 are pretty darn sharp.

1960 Topps #490 Frank Robinson - Looks to be in Mint condition except for the 4 slightly rounded corners. Not very badly tho.

1966 Topps #30 Pete Rose - Looks to be in VERY good condition... very nice sharp corners/edges.

  • For raw cards the only thing to do, unless you have a lot of experience buying and selling them, is looks at EBay's past sales history of the same cards in similar condition. This isn't always easy to compare, for a myriad of reasons, but it can get you in the ballpark.

From looking at the cards, and I am no means a grading expert, I would think:

    54 Ford is a 6,
    60 Mays is a 5 ( the centering t/b kills it),
60 Robinson is a 6, but not a solid one depending on how they view the condition of the bottom border
66 Rose looks like a 7, well it looks better than that, but from my experience with buying from scans once you get the card there is always something you couldn't see in the scan. Also that left border has a mark (scratch?) so depending on what that is could effect it.

The 'scratch' on the Rose is a dog hair on my scanner bed. Not on the card. Her hair gets everywhere image

Would it be worth it to grade any of these?

  • get em graded at the cheapest service level if you don't need to sell em asap. i'm sure you'll get an extra $7/card to cover grading fees

Not to pick on you but mint and rounded corners don't belong in the same sentence.Stuff like this drives me crazy because you see it all the time on Ebay."This card is mint condition except for the 95/5 centering and rounded corners"
Even if you collect modern cards the grading standards still apply.

Haha... I was thinking about that when I was typing. I meant everything about the card looks very good except for the corners. image
