Question about Proof Ike

Modern Proof Submitters,

This may seem like a stupid and obvious question, but I'll give it a go. I haven't submitted any modern proofs, so I don't have too much to go by.

I cracked out a 1976S Clad Proof set, because it had a particularly nice Ike. It's 100% DCAM, with some nice golden toning and it looked clean through the holder. After I got the coins out safely, I inspected the Ike to find that it has 4-5 small, but visible to the naked eye, hairlines in the reverse fields. Knowing that only a PR69DC for a 1976S Clad T2 Ike is worth money (well 70, but yeah right), is this coin immeadiately precluded from this grade because of these marks? I imagine that there probably isn't anyway in the world that this coin would make 69, but I just thought that I'd toss this out to more knowledgable folks.

Thanks!

  • Russ has a good thread on grading proofs -- I tried to find it the other day but could not locate it quickly. If you ask nicely, maybe he will provide a link to it image

If there are readily noticeable hairlines, the coin will not grade 69.
