SCORE!!!!!!!

I went to my bank today and picked up my normal monthly "bank rolled" coins 4 rolls of dollars and 4 rolls of 50 cent peices. The young lady goes off the the vault and comes back. I got two Bu rolls of 79-S's and two rolls Bu 2000-D's no big deal. The teller looks at the 50 cent rolls and frowns. "I don't think these are any good are they?"
I pick up a roll and keep a poker straight face. "How many of these do you have?"
She checks. "Five rolls $50.00"
"Okay I'll take them all, if you have another five rolls of these I'll take them too."
Off she goes to the vault and comes back with another tray.
I now have ten "bank wrapped rolls" of the fat man.
3 rolls 1957-D, 1 roll 1959, 2 rolls 1959-D. 1 roll 1961, 3 rolls 1961-D.
Cost FACE.
I don't expect to have that happen again but my of my it made my day. Now I get to break them out and see just what is inside those old green wrappers!

Just think of all those Metal Detectorists who spend a year and never find a Franklin Half...

Maybe they should 'detect' at the Bank!

  • I busted one roll of 1957D this morning, ended up staying up far longer than I intended. The entire roll was 57D all are BU with dark rim toning, there are three peices that should go MS65. I'm not real great at grading Benny Franks so I could be off a point or so. I'm going to split them between ANACS and PCGS. I should have some pics up in the next day or two, my light cube came in today and I have a digital camera on loan from a friend. I'm bound and determined to learn how to take coin pictures, it isn't as easy as I thought it would be.
