Hey . . . Hi to all, also pls help a newb: morgan die crack

First off, I'd like to say hello to everyone, seeing as I'm new to the forum. I just got into coin collecting, and I've been lurking for a bit while waiting to regester, so . . . Hi to all!

Now, a question: A little while back, I picked up this 1889 morgan at an antique gallery, and it's just been sitting around my house for a while, but a few days ago, I was looking at it, and I noticed that it could possibly have a few die cracks on it, both on the reverse. One is running above the word "united", and the other runs above the "states of america" I'll post a pic. Thanks for any help.

The problem is, for your pictures, you've linked to your hard drive, so we are not seeing any pictures, because we don't have a file with the same name in the same location on our harddrives... Where's Jonesy?! He's got a link in his sigline about posting pictures for newbies.....

FYI, those pictures won't stay up very long being hosted by Geocities... free web hosting sites are not good for image hosting here... you quickly exceed your allotted bandwidth, and within a few minutes, the picture will no longer be up...

Yes. ALthough you traced the outline which makes it harder to see. I recommend trying to get a larger image (up to around 400 x 400) and saving with medium jpeg resolution. It'll help make a clearer and easier to see image.

Is this significant, valuable, or interesting in any way?

BTW, here is a better photo with no tracing, though the line is very hard to see in the photo.

P.S. does the fact that the coin has a die crack increase the value? Any information regarding my coin would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Die cracks normally dont increase value unless they are really pronounced. Although, these die cracks may be from a rarer VAM, but I cant tell from the pics.

Welcome to the boards.....as previously stated the die cracks on your coin by themselves does not increase the value of the coin, however the diagnostics of the die cracks could mean that you have a coin that is considered a variety and may have a VAM # associated with it.
