What will PSA grade this card?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5146144168&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:IT

I am the leading bidder, but thinking I made a mistake.....I could hope for a PSA 7 (8 is dreaming), but worry that 6 may be likely outcome.....Any thoughts?

Happy Holidays to everyone.

i'd say it looks like a 7, assuming there are no surface flaws, and assuming its not trimmed..

That card has been correctly graded by the seller as EX-MT... it's a 6 all the way. I highly doubt it is trimmed.

If you go to the auction, you can click on a supersized image. While near impossible to grade from a scan, you can see a slight diamond cut - and the card is OC top to bottom regardless. The top left corner is peeled back a bit, the bottom left corner is fuzzy. Provided no wax stains, or creases that you cannot see - I would guess PSA 6.

The guy has the grade posted as EXMT+. PSA 6 is exactly the best that it should grade. I don't think it has any chance for a 7 with that upper left corner and also what looks like a slight rubber band indentation on the right edge across from "catcher." Probable surface wear also based on these things. Still of course a very nice card.
  • Thanks guys - you guys are all a great resource and sounding board. Newbees like me are lucky to have you......

There are a few interesting O-Pee-Chee Munson's for you Thurman fans.....Not high graded (PSA 6s from 71 and 74), but still nice cards.....But, please dont outbid me!

One good rule of thumb for evaluating raw cards is to judge it as best as you can and then subtract one grade. If you think it's a 6, then expect a 5 at best. For judging raw on Ebay, however, drop it two grades.

So this Munson looks like a 6, so expect a 4, and bid accordingly.

My guess is a 6 with a shot at a 7 depending on that upper left corner.

    I think it's a nice looking card.
