these high grade Jeffersons in anyone's holder are a point of confusion for me, especially when what is really being paid for is the color at these kind of prices. i'm always amazed that on an issue that has a designation which notes strike fullness the grade can be so high when the strike at the designation area is so weak. a typical crisp strike which doesn't fully show the steps is weak at the third pillar, and that's on the much harder standard alloy composition. looking at the certified silver pops and coins out in the world, a full strike isn't rare, scarce or anything but common. both pictured coins show excessive weakness of strike.

such is the value of color that if it ever goes out of style someone will be holding for a very, very long time or taking a very hot bath.
