Do Crossovers Qualify for $16 Economy Level Grading Service ??

StuartStuart Posts: 9,761 ✭✭✭✭✭
Anybody know if crossover submissions of slabbed coins from other grading services qualify for the $16 Economy Level of grading service, as do raw (non-gold) coins with value of less than $300, for Gold & Platinum Service Level Collector's Club Members?

My reason for asking is that if PCGS decides to cross and grade them, there is extra cost associated with the additional step of PCGS sawing them out of their original slabs. As a result, I do not know if the cost of this service would fall within the Economy Grade service level.

Since I have only previously submitted raw coins to PCGS, I have never had to research this. Thanks for your assistance! image

    Stuart:

Yes. As long as the value is no more than $300 per coin, crossovers qualify for Economy.
    When in doubt, don't.

I would guess they go by the date they receive them and not by the postmark? image

So let me get this right...The only way a crosover is a crossover and worth a $30 fee is when you tell PCGS its a crossover AND put give them a minumum grade requirement. Other than that, I can send them 25 slabbed coins, pay them economy rates and they will crack them, grade them, and I take what they give me for grades..all for 18 bucks each..Correct?

WaterSport: I don't see why a minimum grade specification would affect the Economy Grade price...

Either way the coin has a value of either over or under the $300 limit. Can anybody help to clarify this?? Thanks! image

It's all about the value of the coins you submit.

If the value you put down for a coin on the submission form is over $300 it can't be submitted under economy service.

If you put down a ridiculously low value for a coin, like say $300 for an 1893-S Morgan in VG, PCGS will charge you for Regular ($30) service. You might be able to fudge on the values a little, but they won't let you get away with a lot.
    When in doubt, don't.
