Wow Scott...you had a very busy weekend!
Congratulations on a really great card! A lot of people have not had good luck sending holders to PSA for cross. Crack?...I like it just where it is with the .5 bump - if you crack and resubmit, without an exact measurement, this card is close to being a 7 based on centering alone. But I have seen 8's that I thought should be 7's by virtue of centering (being 75/25) - I really don't know myself - I just wanted to say that I think you picked up some really nice cards this weekend!
thanx for sharing and if you resubmit - Good Luck!

if you cross, crack it. i would however keep it in the sgc holder.

    nice looking card btw.
    Good for you.

    Nice card!
I'd keep it in the SGC holder. I think it looks nicer, and from my experience you're going to have trouble crossing it with that centering. SGC was a little more lenient on centering (I think they've tightened up in the last year or so) and whenever I had cards that crossed low it was due to that.

Holy sh*t Scott, when you told me you bought a '54 Ted Williams, I just didn't get it. Man, what a card. As for your question, I'm not going to touch it. Not on a $3K card! If it was $300 I'd say crack and go for it, but this is a whole different kettle of monkeys. You gotta be prepared to go down to 7, and with that much money at stake, I don't know if I could do it.

PSA has been known to bump up half a grade on occasion. So you could send it in the holder and specify min. grade of 8. A long shot, but you won't lose anything except the grading fee.
  • Play it safe go to a show were PSA is at. And ask them to look at it in the current holder.

Nice card!! If the card was going to cross to an 8, I think Lelands probably would have tried that already. However, you have nothing to lose sending it to PSA in the SGC holder and requesting a grade of 8. Worst case scenario is it comes back in a 7.5 SGC holder and still looks great.

I always advocate crack and resubmit, but on cards in this dollar range - you don't want to go backwards. I like the idea of bringing it to a PSA show, and having someone look at it there (in the holder).

  • That is what i'll do ( cross that is ) If not than hey it's still an awsome card @ a fair price. Also p/u some GAI graded 75 topps unopened. All in all i was very pleased with Leyland's auction......... at least so far.
