It's neat to see what others found interesting many many years ago as it regards numismatics - those are the things that appear in old publications along with simplistic renderings of coinage (that pre-dated photography). The prices are always what grabs you first, but then you start to get over that somewhat and can then start to make believe that you are collecting in that era.....no overnight mail, no PCGS, no phone calls prior to the late 1800s.....think about it. It wouldn't be that easy to put a collection together prior to the late 1800s unless you lived in New York or Philadelphia.
That stuff is fun to buy, read and look at, and own. It's also incredibly cheap for it's value. Most of the books imaged in the link can be had in fairly good condition for under $80. You can't even buy a decent coin for that. In fact, some people spend $100 just to walk a coin through PCGS at a show.
As one who has spent countless hours doing related literature research, I can truly appreciate the time and effort to put together this kind of presentation. Very nice.
