opinons on brett rookie

I just won this last pm, And was curious what you guy's thought about grossing to psa. I know SCD had a good rep. So i'm hoping to crack and submit for the same grade.

What do you think ?

I wouldn't crack that card. I'd try to cross it over via the program, if it failed I'd live with it in the current holder. It's a beautiful card with no apparent print dots. In my opinion there is not enough of an upside in getting the card in a PSA 9 holder vs what you paid for it in it's current holder. Obviously if PSA some how dropped it to an 8, your out a couple hundred dollars instead of just a crossover attempt.

Nice card, more than "a shade" o/c though. I say it is a toss up between an 8 and 9. Good luck

I agree. This is one of those situations where it's best to play it safe, even if "crack & submit" is normally the best chance for a crossover. For one thing, SCD no longer grades cards, so PSA has no reason to reject it just on principle like it might for GAI. I wonder if PSA would find the T/B centering within guidelines for 9, though. All in all, I'd say leave it in the holder for the first try. If they turn it down, then you can decide whether to gamble on a crack-out.
  • You think the price was right on that grade in the scd holder ? and can anyone enlighten me on scd and why you dont see more stuff graded by them. I also notice that the prevaling opinon is that psa is very tough on crossovers.

Nice pickup. The card might be a little too far to the left for a straight nine from PSA. If you care about sending it to a company that is still grading cards, I would send it to SGC. SGC has a good reputation but is known for being a lot looser with centering standards so you will probably get a straight crossover from SGC.

It's a nice card, but centering both ways (even the top to bottom is off a bit) would keep that from a PSA 9 holder, if you cracked it out IMO. You might want to cross it in the holder, but my guess is a PSA 8 would result.

I believe you got a good price on the card and if you are happy with the centering (& I would be), it was a great purchase. If the centering had been better, the card would have gone for more money. There is a PSA 9, centered fairly well, on ebay right now and it is up to 600$ and will close tomorrow.

So, congratulations - I have never done it, but I would guess you have a good chance at letting GAI review it in the holder to see if they would cross it over - I'm in agreement with all here - the centering will most likely push this card to an 8 with PSA - the corners are real strong on your card!!!

  • i would leave the card in the scd holder. maybe in the years to come that alone will make it worth more and you can always cross-over .it's a great card.
