So, I go to one of our normally lousy, lame, crappy waste of time shows today...

And, actually found something for a change! Normally, the dealers around here either have no proof sets or sets that have my fingerprints from the last 10 shows they hauled them to. Today, there was a new guy! With a boatload of proof sets! Apparently they're from his better half's dad's stash. He also had a run of 1950's mint sets - all original. Unfortunately, no proof sets from 1964 to 1970, though.
He was nice enough to let me go through the sets. Quite a few cameo dimes, and a couple cameo quarters, but not much in the half dollar department - until I got to the 1956 sets. He had 10, and every set had a one-sided cameo Frankie except one. BUT, this coin was covered in haze. Even beneath the haze I could see it was a nice two sider, but I wasn't sure how embedded the haze was. So, I negotiated down to $36, (my final offer of $35, plus the $1 the guy tacked on so he could win the negotiation).
Post dip, the coin looks rather nice:
Even Frankies look good when they're cameos!!!!!!!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I have the same problem here. Same dealers at the same old shows. But I keep going. Why? Because you never know when a new dealer will show up or one of your regular dealers does some big deal on proof sets.
Earlier this year, I had the same experience. One of the dealers had about 400 fresh 1956-64 proof sets and was willing to let me cherrypick. I found two dozen or so wonderful sets containing some great cameos and a couple of 56 type 2 franklins. He charged me between bid and ask, but I was not complaining. The first of these cameos are on their way to PCGS now. We shall see...

What's your dipping process for haze removal on silver proof coins?

The 1956 you pictured looks like a couple of 1956 Type II's that I have stumbled across and picked up.
Even better, it also looks like the three raw 1957's that I found and picked up on the cheap at the November Santa Clara show. I am holding one of the 1957's in my hand as I type this and have held it up next to your pictured 1956. They look so much alike they could be twins with one popping out of the coining press at 11:59:59 p.m. on 12-31-1956 and the other popping out of the coining press at 12:00:00 a.m. on 1-1-1957.

Not remember Russ is very cheap!
He hold the coin over the toilet and pees on it!!!
One question......do I wipe front to back or back to front when I am done?

<< <i>Did you buy the whole set for $36 of just the 50c? Bid on the set is $53. >>
Yes, $36 for the set. I started at $27. After all, the half was covered in crud. I told the guy flat-out that I thought it might be a cameo, but that if the haze was embedded the coin didn't have much value. Greysheet prices assume sets with coins in decent condition, and all the coins in this set were hazed. The others spent quite nicely at the grocery store, though.
