Can you give a rough estimate of what fraction of submitted coins turn out to be counterfeit? I presume that this fraction is lower today than when PCGS first started?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Mark,
The percentage of counterfeits is extremely small...probably much less than one tenth of a percent. We just don't see many counterfeits and it been that way for the past 18 years.
That said, there is a pretty big problem with coins from Asia and Eastern Europe. We see lots of counterfeit Asian coins. It's my understanding that the original dies for many issues still exist and many of the Asian countries and cultures don't feel knock-offs of coins, DVDs, software or anything else is bad.
Thanks,
David
