O.K, so the report is the Yanks are going to give Pavana $42 mil over 4 years yet they're willing to let Javy go in the Johnson trade? What sense does this make at all! I consider myself one of the biggest Expos fans' on this entire board, and I can tell all you Yankee fans that Javy is head and shoulders a MUCH better pitcher than Pavano--by this time next year they'll be trying to move Pavano to another team for another pitcher--maybe Roger Clemens? Unfortunately his 9-10 record and 4.71 ERA (projected for next year) aren't going to help his cause--he's had 1 good year for God's sake!!!
I just don't get it.

I disagree with you. I think Pavano is an up and coming pithcer. As far as Vasquez I think that the Yankees should not give up on a young pitcher. Vasquez had a very good first half of the season and then fell apart in the second half and the playoffs. If the Yankees keep him I hope that he is not one of these pitchers who can not pitch under pressure in NY.
What did Pavano say?
He may just be using the Yankees to sign with his boyhood favorite team.
I am only worried that Javy might not be able to pitch in pressure cooker NY. Kenny Rogers could not do it even though he is a great pitcher.
BoSox got Wells? WOW, I never thought that would happen. What is boomer thinking? He really loved the Yankees and they wanted him back. Its cool he wanted to play for his hometown, but now bypass the Yankees to play for archrival BoSox does not make sense. It is weird. Maybe he wants to take the David Cone route. Maybe Wells is trying to out do David Cone so he can get into the Hall of Fame. Wells wants to move up into the same class as Maddux, Clemens, Glavine, Smoltz, Schilling and Johnson and move away from the pack that includes Cone, Gooden, Brown and Mussina.

Come on Yankees and Red Sox, this is a joke, What a JOKE!!!!
Sorry I'm getting like this guys, but this is another reason that arbitration does not work in baseball--the next guy with decent stats for one year (like Pavano), will inch closer to 10 mil a season--this screws everything up!

Pavano pitched very well against the Yankees in the 2003 WS.

Over on the SOSH forums, the posters are already laughing at how much the Yankees overpayed for "Vasquez Part II".
