Lelands=annoying

I thought I had "sniped" 5 cards for my '55 set. Auction ends and this little pop says "auction will continue until bidding has ceased for at least 10 minutes on ALL SPORTS LOTS. Gimme a break! I am kind glad I only won one card. Bid $150 buyers premiuim 0f 15% came up to $176. Then there flat fee shiping and insurance of 13 dollers brought it up to 190$ Spank me very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!image

    The 10-15 minute rule is how most auction houses work. if im not mistaken lelands buyers premium is now 17.5% not 15 % as well

    Yzerman is right- they all pretty much do that now. Thursday nite Mastro ended at 2:10am PST, last nite I got up to check on Mastro and Lelands at 230am and they were both still going. I know 4am isn't that uncommon (all times West Coast).
    3 ways of doing it- put in your best bid and go to bed, stay up all nite placing one bid at a time (safer in my opinion), or make sure you get a call back when your outbid.
    The last one gets a little tricky when you're married.

    Too bad they didn't apply the 10 minute rule per lot, and not on the entire auction. Stagger the ending times, and if the individual item you are bidding on gets no bids for 10 minutes, auction is over. This way, if you are bidding on only 1 or 2 lots, you don't have to wait for all of the last minute activity to end.

    Its a good idea, but that would make sense to the buyer. They want the advantage to be on the side of the seller, or more to the point, the auction house. Keeping the whole thing going definitely benefits the house.

  • The item I won did have an SMr of $150 and is a very low pop of 27 so I am not that upset. But it would make more sense, to the buyer, to end of 10 minutes of no acitvity on that lot. I know they favor sellers, but if it wasn't for the buyer there would be no sale. I look at it like this we all got something to sell, and anything is for sale for the right price.. Now is there any one to buy it?
