Grade the Walker and ?

ok all, help me determine the grade on this thing please. I'm thinking 65, but see my question below.

Notice on the reverse is what appears to be a die crack? (I think) Looks like it extends all the way down the wing edge. Do die cracks degrade the rating by PCGS?

The die crack shouldn't make any difference.

Skirt line looks great. Looks like a full left hand and if this is a S mint that's good since they were real weak on strike. darn nice breast. Good guess MS63 and up but that's a guess a lot of the guys are better then me. What Grade did you buy it at?

I would guess that coin is a MS-64 at PCGS It may even get
a 63 because of the deep hit on the eagle's left leg and if the
luster is not too good. It's still a great strike and a nice coin.
I would have no problem collecting that one.

Got the new books. Just conservative. Old accounting habit "Anticipate all losses and no gains" It's so much fun to open the box and be surprised rather then disappointed.

MS64 if the surfaces are original- MS62 if it has been cleaned. Sure is a nice coin though either way. mike

Beautiful coin and a tough date this nice! I suspect that given the value of this one, the hit on the leg may limit it to 64, whereas a common-date mid-1940s Walker might get the bump to 65. Solid 65 if not 66 without that hit, IMO.

So is that what the hairline is though...a die crack? Is it common for them to extend almost the whole diameter of the coin like that?

Almost $800 for a coin with finger prints. The other pic's show the fool holding it in his bare hands. Be glad you didn't get it.

What?!! I wish I had seen that auction before now! That's a nice coin from what I gather from the photos. I can see some good luster, only a couple of marks that I didn't immediately notice. If those are small ticks on the eagle's leg and a mark on Liberty's arm, that coin is still a 65 in my book. That is, barring any hairlines, hidden marks, PVC, ect.
